Everything we put in our bodies contributes to our overall health, and herbs can be a wonderful way to boost the nutrition of our food, supplement in vitamins and minerals, and even make foods more bioavailable. We will discuss how to use herbs to supplement vitamin C, absorb iron more efficiently, reduce inflammation and add immune boosting flavor to broths and soups. I will talk about new ways to use herbs you probably already have in your kitchen, as well as some of my favorite herbs that I would recommend adding to your pantry to boost your meals with flavor and nutrition. You will leave this workshop with knowledge on how to make and use herbal vinegars, oils, honeys and salts, and how adding these to your dinner table can help make your meals even more nutritious and delicious.
Taught by Sage Siera. Sage is a folk herbalist and plant lover who lives on an intentional community in the Willamette Valley. She makes seasonal, local, organic and wildharvested herbal medicines for her herbal line, Moon Mama Artemisia, and teaches workshops to empower folks to take their own health into their hands.
Sage came to the plant path through her own health struggles and a deep, inherent love for the natural world. She interned with Daphne Singingtree at Eagletree Herbs, and works for Mountain Rose Herbs where she is able to constantly learn and expand her knowledge of herbal medicine. Sage's passion lies in connecting herself and her community with the plant allies that reside in our local environment, and opening up to the ways plants can support not only our bodies, but our minds and spirits.
